Step-By-Step To Get Rid Of Spylocked or Iesmin.exe

June 11th, 2007

Step-By-Step To Get Rid Of Spylocked or Iesmin.exe

Yesterday, my laptop has been infected by Spylocked spyware. I believe that it is due to my brother has installed a fake anti-spyware.

Windows keeps giving me a warning that I have spyware and that i should get rid of it.Spylock kept coming up, and even though I’ve uninstalled it, the icon keeps flashing in system tray…

If you open the Task Manager, you will see iesmn.exe, iesmin.exe, imsmain, imsmn in the process. That’s the spyware. Iesmin.exe is actually Trojan-Downloader.Zlob.Media-Codec.

After searching some info about the virus, I am able to remove the spyware. So, what you have to do to get rid of this spyware?

First, kill the process of those I’ve stated above one by one in the Task Manager.

Then run Hijack This or Startup Manager to remove iesmin.exe and the gang from Windows startup.

Final step, after making sure that iesmin.exe and the gang are not running in the process( open Task Manager and look at the process whether they still running or not ), go to

C:\Program Files\Video ActiveX Access\ and find iesbpl.dll and delete that file.

DONE !!! Now you will be able to remove the spyware manually.

Flash Memory Or Hard Drive-based MP3 Players?

June 11th, 2007

Flash Memory Or Hard Drive-based MP3 Players?

For those who loves music very much, I’m sure some of you will buy MP3 players to keep your favorite music and I’m sure you’ll bring along your MP3 player everywhere you go, shopping, jogging, driving and so on.

But during buying the MP3 player, do you consider whether it is flash memory-based or hard-drive based MP3 player ? Well, I will tell you a bit the different between this two.

Flash memory-based player actually has lower storage capacities than hard drive-based but they are much smaller, lighter and more shock resistant. High-resolution video quickly eat up your flash memory capacities.
Also, flash memory-based player do not have large screen and as sharp as hard drive-based player.

So,If your music collection isn’t so big and you only want to put 3 or 4 video in your Mp3, then you should consider buying flash memory-based player. They are usually much cheaper and smaller, fit comfortably in your pocket. The stylish one based on flash memory of course iPod Nano.

IF you want to keep a lot of video, with good quality and your music collection is BIG, then hard drive-based suit you well. Hard drive-based usually come with a lot of storage capacities. The most recently hard drive-based is Archos 704 WiFi, definitely has a great video presentation.

It’s up to you. I hope this guide will help you to decide what kind of player suit you most based on your lifestyle and also budgets.

Optimize Your Website for Search

June 9th, 2007

By Kathryn Lively

You have created your website - uploaded content and images to create a pleasing online environment for your information - and are ready to launch. Yet, for all the relevant content and attractive photos provided, optimization for the search engines will require more than presenting a nice package. The site needs to be optimized for search results, that search users looking for information on your topic are able to find you. For newer sites, age can be a determining factor in how it is ranked among older sites search engine view as more experienced and relevant, yet with proper optimization and implementation good results can be had.

Some factors to consider when optimizing your website for good search rankings include:

Code - Is the HTML code that builds your website valid? Will a search engine spider be able to crawl your front page in its entirety, then go onto the listed sublinks without hitting any walls? Is your code free of dynamic strings that a search engine spider cannot read. If not, is the code altered in a way to keep the dynamic factors of your site without holding up a crawler’’s ability to mine data from your website?

Content - Is the content you provide on site relative to the site’’s topic? If paraphrasing from other sources, do you give proper credit? If your content is original, do you make it available to other sites of relevance to use, and do you include your link information? Is your content well-written, free of spelling and grammatical errors? Is there a proper balance of relative keywords that may be targeted in search? Is your content compelling enough to prompt site owners of relative content to link back to you without being asked?

Freshness - How often do you update your website? Do you use a blog to power your site with updated content? Do you syndicate your content through an RSS feed for other sites of relative topics to use? Do you use an RSS feed of relative information on your site to bring updated content to your visitors?

Keywords - How balanced is your use of searchable keywords in your content? Are the keywords used relative to the site’’s overall content? Are you trying to trick the engines using keywords that are not relevant? Do you use too many keywords, or too few? Do you create anchor link text of searchable keywords, leading users to information deeper within your website?

Links - Do all of the links on your website work? Is every subpage within your site linked back to the home page? Do you have outbound links on your site that lead to relevant information? Have you performed a link popularity check on your site to determine what sites are linking back to yours? Do you seek link building relationships with sites of quality and relevance?

META data - Do you include relevant META tags for keywords and descriptions on your website? Do you use too many META keywords, too few?

Search Friendliness - Overall, how search friendly is your site? Will search engine spiders be able to explore the entire site without running into problems? Does the site look professional, original?

Sitemap - Do you have a sitemap containing links of all subpages in your site? Is it parsed correctly and easy to read? Is a link to the sitemap available on your home page? Do all the links on your sitemap work?

Usability - Is your site’’s look and feel attractive to the site visitor? Is the site easy to read, easy to navigate? Does a visitor need to click on more than one or two links to find relevant information? Does the site load quickly?

One thing to note about search engine optimization is that there are no set rules. What works for some will not work for all. Take into consideration this list and apply the best of your abilities where needed on your website. Constant care to your website will yield results.

10 SEO Tips for Google, MSN, and Yahoo

May 10th, 2007

My guess is that if you are looking at SEO articles you are a beginner to the subject. Here I will show ten easy ways to better optimize your site for search engines. These tips are not only great for beginners but also for experienced webmasters as well. Check out these 10 Search Engine Optimization tips and apply them to your site. Remember, search engines are not a magic bullet! But they are a good way to drive extra targeted traffic to your site. Getting to the top of any search engine doesn’t happen overnight it takes time, patience and hard work.

1.) Great Content

If you spend all your time worrying about ways to get traffic and no time spent working on content your site will never get any where. If your content is good people will voluntarily give you non-reciprocal links. SEO, traffic techniques and every thing else is secondary, your content is why people come to your site. Even if you do a great job getting people through the door, if your content is bad they wont come back.

2.) “Link to Us” and “Add a Link”

Create a “Link to Us” and “Add a Link” page and add them to your site map. This lets other webmasters who may visit your site know that your are open to link exchanges. Also, you want to make it as easy as possible for other people to link to your site. For your link to us page you should give people numerous options ranging from images to text. Give them the HTML code to copy and paste into their site. You should not iclude codes for images that are on your server, this uses up a lot of bandwidth and can even screw up your website stats by showing more unique IP’s than have actually come to your site. Instead display the image and tell people to right click, save as, then upload to their own server.

3.) Links, Links, and More Links

All search engines take into account how many links are pointing to your site on other pages. You should avoid indiscriminate linking to other sites in unrelated fields as well as linking to sites that aren’t indexed in Google, as they may have been penalized and could get your site penalized too. The best way to get back links is to visit sites with a similar topic, look for a “link to us” or similar page, then look for any contact information for that site. Place their links on your page first, then contact the webmaster of the other site telling them you would like to do a link exchange and where they can find their link on your site. Then ask for a reciprocal link and give them your link info. You should avoid sending your link info in html format because some webmasters don’t like that. Instead tell them your page TITLE, URL, and DESCRIPTION

4.) Don’t Optimize the Wrong Keywords

Your probably thinking that the more times a keyword is searched for the better it is to optimize for that keyword. WRONG! In fact its just about the opposite of that. If you are a new page with little or no page rank its going to be hard to show up for high competition keywords. The best way to decide which keywords to optimize is to divide the number of times that that phrase is searched for by the number of pages that show up for that search on Google. This gives you the search to results ratio. The higher the ratio the better off you are optimizing for that keyword or keyword phrase.

http://www.goodkeywords.com/ - a free software that tells you how often keywords are searched for.

5.) Use a different page title than your URL (homepage only!)

If your homepage URL is “All-About-Horse-Racing.com” you are almost 100% guaranteed to show up as the #1 result for the search “All About Horse Racing”. So why would you want to make that your page title too? If you make your page title “Horse Racing Strategies” you will probably show up for that search as well. Make your page title the exact search phrase you want to show up for. This only works well for your home page, for sub-domains it is a good idea to have your sub domain URL and your page title the same keyword phrase.

6.) Use description meta tags with keyword phrases you want to show up for

In your description meta tag you should use key words and key word phrases you would like to show up for. Your description meta tag and your page title is what a potential visitor sees at search engines.

7.) Use h1, h2, and h3 tags

These tags let search engines know what your most important keywords are. h1 is for your main keywords. h2 and h3 are for your secondary keywords.

8.) Keywords in Unexpected Places

Did you know that search engines don’t only look at the content of your pages for keywords. They also look at your URL, and names of files in your site. Since search engines can’t tell what’s in an image on your site they rely on its alt tag and file name. You can use ANY image for this. Also, put keywords in your URL. All words in URLs and file names should-be-separated-by-dashes.

9.) First and Last Words

Add your desired keyword phrase (only 1 per page!) to the very beginning and end of your page. You are more likely to show up for your desired search phrase if you add it to the beginning and end of your page.

example: http://www.thunderfap.com/daily-giveaways.htm

10.) Bold, Underline, Italicize

Out of all the places you can put keywords you can also make certain words or phrases stick out to search engines by emboldening, underlining or italicizing them. However, don’t overdo it. You should not ‘keyword stuff’. Way back when search engines were just starting, they used to only look at how often a keyword phrase was repeated in a page. A lot of pages climbed to the top of the search engines by just repeating the same words over and over. Search engines have long since changed their tactics, now you may even be penalized for “keyword stuffing”, so don’t overdo it.

What Is Google Sandbox And How To Avoid Sandbox Effect?

May 10th, 2007

Google Sandbox is the latest buzz among the webmasters. There is still no official confirmation from google whether such a thing exists or not. The sandbox effect started when google released an update couple of years ago. Sandbox is the biggest worry for new websites.

The sandbox effect is a theory that newly created websites are placed in sandbox rather than in the index of google until such time is deemed appropriate before a ranking can commence. This means that the newly created websites will not rank for highly competitive keywords until a specific period of time around 9 months. Not all the sites go into sandbox. There are many sites that escape from sandbox and get into google index within a week. It all depends on the keyword it targets and the quality of content and inbound links.

Matt Cutts works for quality group in google, specializing in search engine optimizing related issues. Matt once said that there isn’t a sandbox, but the algorithm might affect some sites, under some circumstances, in a way that a webmaster would perceive as being sandboxed.

How to avoid the sandbox effect?

Best way to escape from sandbox is to target less competitive keywords. Websites that get into sandbox are sites which target highly competitive keywords. If you target less competitive keywords or long phrases then your chances of getting sandboxed is very less.

Only newly created domains get into sandbox. So try to buy old domains or domains that have recently expired. This is the easiest technique to avoid google sandbox. Now you can even target highly competitive keywords and google will not sandbox you.

There are also other options like the use of sub-domains and deep linking. Try deep linking strategies. This will make your pages rank well even if your site is sandboxed. Try to get links from edu and gov domains. If you do this your site will earn the trust of google and not be sandboxed.
